A lovely example of a creamy coloured ironstone pitcher, dating from the early 20th Century.
This pitcher has an antiqued creamy colour to it, which has occurred through age over time, creating a unique patina. Across the front is an underglaze transfer for an Imperial Quart measurement, which was common to include on ale jugs at the time.
This item is in very good condition considering its age. There is age relating crazing and staining but there are no chips. There is one small and tight hairline crack above the handle but the position of the handle has prevented any further damage. There is also a small surface crack on the inside of the jug where the pouring lip is located, but this simply reveals where the clay was joined and is structurally sound.
Overall, it’s a lovely looking piece which is great to use for water or as a wine carafe.
Height, 16cm
Width, 18.5cm (including handle)
Depth, 13cm
