A fantastic example of a rare ironstone ‘Flour’ shaker or sifter made by Maling in the early 20th Century.
Dating from the 1930s, this is a scarcely seen part of the Maling Cobblestone collection in the brown coloured range.
This four sifter is in lovely clean condition, with the cobblestone pattern still very strong. They can sometimes be faded from use but there is only one small area of wear on this canister, as the bottom of the handle. There are patches of light crazing all over this piece but there are no cracks or chips. It also has its original cork stopper in the base.
As well as the standard Maling mark on the base, there is also a mark for J.H.Awmack of Leeds, who would have sold the Maling range.
