Antique Victorian White Ironstone English Advertising Pot – One Pound Chubby Frank Cooper Oxford Marmalade
This is a listing for one standard sized Victorian one pound chubby Frank Cooper marmalade advertising pot.
Made by the Maling factory in Newcastle around 1900, this 1 pound “chubby” size English advertising pot is a versatile and popular crock, which is perfect for a variety of uses around the modern home. The Frank Cooper company produced their advertising pots for Seville marmalade in a variety of sizes, and this is the chubbier, standard sized crock.
As most jars were discarded with common waste at the time, they often have discoloration and chips. However, this adds to their charm as highly decorative, weathered and chippy pieces.
This pot is in overall excellent condition, with no significant chips or cracks. This example is crazed and has stained in places, most notably on the left hand side of the pot. This has created a unique patina, but the transfer is still nice and clear. There is a slight firing dent to the base of the pot at the front but this does not detract and blends in with the overall timeworn appeal of the pot.
Please check my other listings for a variety of other antique advertising pots, which make excellent decorative pieces around the home.
