Mid Century Modern Brass & Smoked Glass Side Tables

antique edwardian 1920s smiths crisps shop display glass jar counter

A striking pair of brass effect and smoked glass side or coffee tables, dating from the 1960s or 1970s in Maison Jansen style.

This is a wonderful set of tables which will add a touch of the Hollywood Regency glamour style to the living area of your home. The smoked glass tops on both the tables are particularly impressive and really set them off.

They are a heavy set of tables but I am unsure what type of metal has been used on the bases, although they have a brass effect finish. The bases on both the tables are tarnished and stained with darker marks in places, although in my view this adds to the aged feel of them both. There are also some surface scratches in places.

The larger coffee table measures 41cm tall, and 46cm wide and deep. There are minor nibbles to the edges of the glass top, with two very small chips on two of the edges of the smoked glass top, However, these are minimal in size (the largest being 3mm x 2mm in size). The frame upon which the glass sits is loose and can be lifted up, however it is fixed firmly when the glass in is place. There is a very slight wooble to the glass when in place.

The smaller table measures 36cm tall, and 35.5cm wide and deep. There are some minor surface scratches and nibbles and wear to the corners of the smoked glass but it might be possible for these to be polished out. The tarnishing on the brass effect base is more notable on this table, epsecially on the legs.

Overall, both tables are in good condition for their age and still have many more years use in them.
