Antique Early to Mid 20th Century Mason’s Ironstone Lidded Cheese Dish

antique early mid century white ironstone lidded cheese dish masons black underglaze transfer print label

This is a super example of the lidded white ironstone lidded “CHEESE” dish and stand. Carrying a black transfer print Mason’s mark on its base, this piece dates from the 1940s.

In plain white ironstone style, the word “CHEESE” is featured in large script writing on both sides of the lid in black transfer print.

These white ironstone labelled pieces have become extremely popular and are becoming harder to find. This version is in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips. There is some light crazing to the lid in places, and some very mild scuff marks to the base dish, however otherwise it is very good and a lovely clean example. The black lettering is also very clear and bold still.

Overall, it’s a great piece of white ironstone made by the renowned Mason’s factory. It would look wonderful as part of a table centrepiece when entertaining, and it is also looks great on display when not in use.
