Late Victorian White Ironstone Scale Plate Featuring the Justitia Fides Logo in Black Transfer Print – Ideal Cheese Platter
A good sized Victorian white ironstone scale plate. In good condition, these ceramic platters look fabulous simply on display and they also make excellent cheese plates or cheeseboards.
Made in the late 1800s in white ironstone, this scale plate has a striking under glaze black transfer print featuring the popular “JUSTITIA ET FIDES” logo, translating to Justice & Faith. The print is still clear and makes a very interesting feature.
The ironstone makes it ideal for use as a cheese board or for serving up food on as a platter or ironstone slab, keeping the food at a cool and constant temperature.
The plate is in good condition. Overall, it is very clean with just some odd spots of discoloration, most notably around the rim and some near the edges of the plate. There are also some surface scratches on the plate from where it would have been used for cutting purposes. These are more notable on the back.
