Antique White Ironstone English Advertising Pot – Rare Tall J Sainsbury’s Bloater Paste Crock
This is a listing for ONE of the rarer taller examples of the antique white ironstone J Sainsbury’s bloater paste crocks, dating from the end of the 19th/early 20th Century.
These white ironstone jars are great examples of antique English advertising pots. In the harder to find larger size, they look wonderful on display as part of a kitchenalia or white ironstone collection, and are versatile to use in all rooms around the home.
At the time they were produced, these pots were discarded. These have been dig from an old Victorian dump, and therefore feature aged crazing and staining. However, they are all in excellent condition with clearly visible black transfer print logos, which is remarkable considering their volatile history as throwaway objects.
A total of two pots are available to choose from, depending on your desired patina.
LEFT POT: The cleanest available, this pot is in overall excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks and just some very light crazing all over as well as a small smear of ink on the front of the pot from the time of production.
RIGHT POT: This pot has a fresh white base colour to it but is also speckled with patches of stained crazing, creating a unique and individual patina. The crazing has a dark and rusty colour to it, and is mainly focused both in and outside the right hand side of the pot. However, otherwise the pot is in overall very good condition with no chips or cracks and just some minor nibbles to its base.
