1920s White Ironstone Antique Ham Stand with the Advertising Logo For G Rushbrooke of Smithfield

antique white ironstone edwardian 1920s ham stand g rushbrooke smithfield outfitters

A wonderful example of white ironstone ware at its finest, in mint condition.

This antique white ironstone ham stand dates from the 1920s. Featuring a wonderfully clear black transfer print advertising logo for G Rushbrooke of Smithfield, who were respected shop outfitters, this is a great example of antique English advertising ware.

Ceramic ham stands were commonly used in shops in the early part of the twentieth Century. They were used to display the meats and hams that provision and grocers shops had available for sale.

It is a heavy and quality antique piece, which shows off the quality of ironstone. It is perfect for a modern kitchen, and really comes into its own used for entertaining during family celebrations, Easter or Christmas.

This piece is in excellent condition with no damage. The only signs of wear are around the rim of the base, which has some tiny nibbles and minor discoloration and spotting in places from use. To display the outfitters logo, the stand needs to stand upside down and so its unglazed base is displayed.
