Antique French White Ironstone Wall Mounted Porcher Soap Dish

antique edwardian 1920s smiths crisps shop display glass jar counter

A unique late Victorian or Edwardian white ironstone wall mounted soap dish, made in England for sale by Porcher as a bathroom accessory in France.

This is a substantial, weighty and impressive piece of white ironstone ceramic which would add a touch of class to any period bathroom. Made in England, this was specifically made for the French market, for a bathroom accessory and fittings company called Porcher. The company’s art deco logo features on this piece in brown transfer print, which is still very clear.

The ironstone soap dish is in excellent condition and is a very rare curved shape, ready to be mounted onto a wall. There is no crazing, cracks or chips. There is some discoloration to the rounded base, as well as some age spots in places. But these all add to the character and charm of the piece.
