Antique Early 20th Century White Ironstone French Confiture Pot – Advertising Felix Potin in Large, Two Pound Pot
This is a listing for a lovely French confiture advertising pot for Felix Potin, dating from around 1900.
Dating from the very start of the 20th Century, this French ironstone advertising pot is a scarce survivor and is in wonderfully clean condition.
The Felix Potin jam or confiture pots came in a range of different styles. This teal coloured transfer is a real beauty, with the framed logo wrapping itself around the pot. The ironstone pot itself is very heavy and sturdy, a signature of the French examples.
This large two pound Confiture pot is an excellent example, with the transfer still very clear and very little discolouration to the ironstone except around the top and base rims.
There are two firing faults on this piece, one a small chip to the top rim from the time of production and which has been covered in glaze. The other is a split to the pottery at the base. However, this does not penetrate through, nor does it affect the integrity of the piece in any way.
Bearing the imprinted F.P initials on its base, together with the size marker (0.25 kilos) and the Luneville factory mark, this is a fabulous example of an antique French jam or marmalade pot. It would make a great starter piece in a collection and they are also ideal for use around the home used as vases.
