Antique Early 20th Century Large French Plain White Ironstone Serving Bowl

antique early 20th century plain white ironstone french bowl plain whiteware

A harder to find shallow large white ironstone serving bowl, dating from the early 20th Century and produced by a French pottery.

The large size of this antique ironstone mixing bowl makes it perfect for use as a large salad bowl or pasta dish. And, when not in use, its shallower shape makes it ideal for display, stacked up with other white ironstone pieces.

In lovely condition, there are no cracks or chips on this piece. It does have crazing all over, some of which has developed a tea coloured staining, adding an authentic timeworn charm to this antique bowl. There are some minor patches of discoloration around the outer rim and also wear to the base rim of the bowl and some odd scratches from use.

The underneath bears a maker’s mark for a French factory, although this has smudged over time and the factory is not familiar to me.
