Sourced in France, this ironstone jug oozes character. Standing at 17cm tall, it is the perfect size for use as a vase and looks stunning simply displayed on its own.
The blue floral decoration on this piece is still very clear, but this is blended in with a crazed patina, which has discolored more towards the top of the vase. It’s likely this has been casued by exposure to the elements, as the base of the vase has also blackened.
Rather than detracting from the piece, though, this crazing adds significant timeworn charm and appeal, and the result is a stunning look. The jug is also otherwise in lovely condition, with no chips or cracks. There are some small firing faults on the handle, where small lumps of earthenware can been seen. But, again, these add to the overall rustic charm of this jug.
