Victorian or Edwardian Extra Long Antique Wooden Spoon

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

This is a huge, very long wooden spoon dating from the Victorian or Edwardian period.

Having previously been used, I can imagine that this spoon was used for stirring extra large pots of jam or sauces below stairs in a country house or large city manor house.

Measuring 61cm in length, I have never seen a spoon like this before. It has a wonderful rich, dark patina. This would look lovely hanging up or on display as part of a kitchenalia collection.

It is in nice condition for its age. The dents and knocks add to its charm and have come through use. There is one old worm hold which has nonetheless been treated, and an odd paint splash near the handle and on the tip of the spoon.

Length, 61cm; Spoon 13,5cm x 9cm; Handle diameter, 2.5cm
