Victorian White Ironstone English Advertising Pot – Horrocks & Watson Springfield Potted Meat, Southport
A lovely Victorian/Edwardian antique white ironstone packaging pot for Horrocks & Watson potted meats, dating from the early 1900s.
This is a great example of antique advertising white ironstone pot for potted meat. The pot features a large black transfer print, in excellent condition, which says:
“HORROCKS & WATSON. SPRINGFIELD HOME POTTED MEATS. SOUTHPORT”
Considered a throwaway item at the time it was produced, this English advertising pot was salvaged from an old Victorian dump. In spite of its history, this pot is in very good condition. The transfer advertising is still very clear and there is just light crazing all over. There are no cracks, although there are a few nibbles and a chip to the top rim, and a more notable chip to the base. However, the larger chip on the base can only be seen when looking at the base itself.
