Antique Edwardian Large White Ironstone Butchers Shop Meat or Dairy Platter Advertising Parnall & Sons Outfitters By Wedgwood
A rarely seen large white ironstone grocers shop display plate, made by Wedgwood, with the Parnall advertising stamp, dating from around 1900.
This Edwardian butchers display platter is a wonderful large and useful size. Featuring the Parnall logo in its centre makes this a wonderful item to add to a white ironstone or kitchenalia collection.
Parnall were renowned shopfitters at the time and often added their elaborate advertising logos to their white ironstone pieces. This platter was made by Wedgwood and has the Wedgwood mark imprinted on the back of the plate.
This platter does have stained crazing across its top, reflecting years of use in a grocers or butchers shop displaying meat or dairy produce. There is a small chip to the top right corner, measuring 1.5cm long and 4mm wide. But this is old and the colouring of the ironstone underneath blends in with the overall aged look of the piece. There is also a small hairline in the bottom left corner about 2cm in length. But this is stable and perfectly tight.
A rare piece of antique advertising, this Is the perfect piece to use when entertaining and also looks wonderful on display.
