Edwardian White Ironstone Tongue Plate with Black Transfer Print Labelling & Decoration

;; his is a fabulous example of an antique Edwardian white ironstone tongue dish.
Featuring an ornate scrolled pattern and ‘TONGUE’ across the centre of the plate in black transfer print, this is an excellent example of a tongue plate, dating from the early 1900s.
At the time, these plates would have been used in butchers shops to display the tongue it had for sale, which was a popular dish then.
They make excellent display pieces as part of a kitchenalia or white ironstone collection.
This plate is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There are some patches of crazing and small areas of age spots, most notably around the edge of the plate and on the outer rim of the rear of the plate. The transfer print is still extremely clear.
