Edwardian White Ironstone Banded Kitchen Storage Jar for Sago
A highly collectable Edwardian banded white ironstone storage jar for SAGO, in great condition with its original lid.
These white ironstone storage jars were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when foodstuffs were often sold in loose measures in local grocers shops. The “SAGO” label on this pot is still very clear, with just a small amount of fading. The white storage jar is a great large size and its rounded shape is also unusual.
This Edwardian jar is in great overall condition, with no crazing or cracks and just some minor nibbles to the lip of the lid from use. There is some age related staining to the top rim of the pot. Also, there are some splatters of black transfer print across the top of the pot, which is more than likely a fault from the time when it was produced. Overall, though, it’s a great size and still a great white ironstone colour.
