Antique Edwardian Banded Barrel Shaped White Ironstone Kitchen Storage Jar for Rice

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

A highly collectable Edwardian banded white ironstone storage jar for “RICE”, in excellent condition with its original lid.

These white ironstone storage jars were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when foodstuffs were often sold in loose measures in local grocers shops. The “RICE” label on this pot is still very clear and visible, with just a small amount of fading at the top. The white storage jar is a great size for day to day use and its rounded barrel shape is also unusual.

This Edwardian jar is in great overall condition, with no crazing, chips or cracks and just a few odd age spots in places from use. There is also a tiny red spec of ink under the label, most likely something there when the pot was produced.

Overall, though, it’s a great size and still a great white ironstone colour. A great piece either to start or add to a collection of white ironstone antique storage jars.
