Tall Edwardian White Banded Ironstone Kitchen Storage Jar for “Rice”.

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

A highly collectable white banded ironstone storage jar for RICE, in excellent condition with its original lid, dating from the early twentieth Century.

These white ironstone storage jars were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when it was common for foodstuffs to be sold in loose measures in grocery shops. Due to their increased popularity in recent years, it is now increasingly difficult to source these storage jars. This taller, narroe version is a rarer shape and features a “RICE” label in black transfer print on its front.

This jar is in good overall condition, with no cracks or chips. It has crazing all over, which has stained on the lid slightly and there are a number of age spots in places. There is wear to the base, plus some discoloration to the inside of the jar due to use.
