Edwardian Ironstone White Banded Barley Kitchen Storage Jar

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

A highly collectable and rarer white banded ironstone storage jar for BARLEY, in mint condition with its original lid, dating from the early twentieth Century.

These white ironstone storage jars were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when it was common for foodstuffs to be sold in loose measures in grocery shops. This smaller, straight version features a “BARLEY” label in black transfer print.

This jar is in perfect condition, with no crazing, cracks or chips. There are just a few odd small age spots in places, most notably on the base rim of the lid, and some odd nibbles to the rim of the base from use.
Height, 11cm; Width, 10cm.
