Edwardian Ironstone White Banded Rice Storage Jar

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

A highly collectable white banded ironstone storage jar for RICE, in mint condition with its original lid, dating from the early twentieth Century.

These white ironstone storage jars were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when it was common for foodstuffs to be sold in loose measures in grocery shops. Due to their increased popularity in recent years, it is now increasingly difficult to source these storage jars. This smaller, straight version features a “RICE” label in black transfer print.

This jar is in perfect condition, with no crazing, cracks or chips. There are just a few odd small age spots in places, some minor fading to the rice label and a small firing fault on the lid.

Height, 11cm; Width, 10cm.
