Antique Edwardian Ironstone Day & Millward Scale Plate
A wonderful example of an Edwardian ironstone scale plate, in mint condition, dating from the early 1900s.
This ironstone slab is a wonderful ornate example produced by renowned scale manufacturers, Day & Millward of Birmingham. As well as featuring advertising for the firm, with “DAY & MILLWARD. PATENTEES. BIRMINGHAM” in black transfer print at the base, the scale plate is very ornate with the Royal Crest and Justice symbols also featuring prominently.
These ironstone plates are great for serving cheese or butter on in the modern kitchen as the ironstone keeps them cool.
This scale plate is in excellent condition. There are spots of discoloration and some nibbles to the edge where the plate has been used as part of a set of scales. There are a couple of small lines of crazing on the front and also some small patches on the base, together with some spots of discoloration. However, overall this is an excellent quality piece of antique kitchenalia.
