Antique Edwardian White Ironstone Banded Kitchen Storage Jar for ‘Rice’
A highly collectable Edwardian banded white ironstone storage jar for “RICE”, in fair condition.
These white ironstone storage jars were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when foodstuffs were often sold in loose measures in local grocers shops. The “RICE” label on this pot is still very visible, with just a small amount of blurring around the outside. The white storage jar is a great size for day to day use and its rounded barrel shape is also unusual.
This Edwardian jar is in good overall condition. There is crazing, which has stained lightly in places, creating a timeworn patina on the piece. There are no cracks. However, there is a repair to the outer top rim of the pot at the back. This is more obvious when looking at the pot from the back. The original lid has also been replaced, but the replacement works well with the pot and isn’t overly obvious.
Overall, though, it’s a great size and still a great piece either to start or add to a collection of white ironstone antique storage jars.
