Antique Victorian Chippy White Ironstone English Advertising Pot – Frank Cooper Marmalade, Oxford
This is a listing for one standard sized Victorian one pound chubby Frank Cooper marmalade advertising pot, which is in a chippy and weathered condition.
Made by the Maling factory in Newcastle around 1900, this 1 pound “chubby” size English advertising pot is a versatile and popular crock, which is perfect for a variety of uses around the modern home. The Frank Cooper company produced their advertising pots for Seville marmalade in a variety of sizes, and this is the chubbier, standard sized crock.
As most jars were discarded with common waste at the time, they often have discoloration and chips. However, this adds to their charm as highly decorative, weathered and chippy pieces.
This example certainly shows evidence of its time underground, with some knocks and cracks. Most notably, there is a hairline running down the front of it, plus a smaller crack the other side of the advertising logo. There is also a chip to the top rim at the top. Despite these imperfections this is nonetheless still a sturdy pot and would be good for a number of uses around the home or simply on display.
Please check my other listings for a variety of other antique advertising pots, which make excellent decorative pieces around the home.
