Vintage Advertising “Afore Ye Go” bells whisky jug
An authentic and harder to find Bells Scotch Whisky “Afore Ye Go” jug made by Hancock Corfield & Waller Ltd (HCW) in Scotland in the mid twentieth Century.
The jug features a brown transfer print on the front of an image depicting Arthur Bell with a bottle of whisky and a tray of whisky glasses, offering one last drink to his guests before they leave. The writing on the front reads, “Arthur Bell & Sons Ltd, Distillers, Perth, Scotland, Est’d 1825”. On the back of the jug is the advertising for the company “Bells Scotch Whisky” together with the “Afore Ye Go” slogan.
The jug is in fair condition. The brown transfer print is still very clear, with only a small scratch across it. There is crazing all over the jug, both inside and out, but there are no hairlines. The base of the jug has suffered some wear through use around the rim, and has four small chips which have spread to the base of the jug. This wear is reflected in the item’s pricing.
