Antique Late Victorian or Edwardian White Ironstone Wall Hanging Thermometer
This is an excellent example of a rare late Victorian/Edwardian white ironstone household thermometer.
Dating from the turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries, this white ironstone thermometer would have been hung up around either around the home or in a work environment (they were often used in pharmacies for example) to check the temperature of different rooms. Made in solid ceramic, it is rare to find them without chips and damage to the white ironstone like this, and in perfect working order.
This is in mint condition. The thermometer operates accurately in response to temperature changes from the surrounding environment. The white ironstone frame is also in excellent order, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There are just a few age spots and marks, and some build up of dirt where the ironstone is unglazed (at the base of the instrument), and some minor residue from where a screw has previously been used to fix this to a wall.
