Antique White Ironstone Advertising Pot for J Sainsuburys Potted Meats
A lovely example of late Victorian or early twentieth Century Edwardian advertising in the form of a cute sized J Sainsbury’s potted meat ironstone jar.
These ironstone pots were produced for J Sainsbury’s, a popular grocers shop in England which has now grown into one of the biggest and most popular supermarkets in the UK.
This pot was widely produced at the turn of the Century for packaging potted meats. It’s a great example of packaging and advertising from the time, with black transfer print advertising the shop with the lovely “S” logo featured.
As with all antique and vintage items, this pot does show signs of its age although in my opinion this adds to the look and character of them. There are no cracks or chips in this example, although it does have crazing both internally and externally, which has discolored with age in places.
These are great items to add to a kitchenalia collection, to simply have on display in a kitchen or for use to hold succulents.
Height, 6.5cm; Width, 5.5cm.
