Antique Early 20th Century English White Ironstone Carving Dish or Meat Platter by Wilkinsons
This is a lovely example of a good family white ironstone carving platter, produced by the English potters Wilkinsons in the early part of the 20th Century.
Dating from around the 1920s, this is a beautiful carving platter. Designed to hold meat in position on one side of the platter, there is a slight slope towards the dipped end of the plate, with the channels designed to allow the juices to flow into this.
This ironstone carving platter has seen some use over the years, and consequently has crazing all over, which has stained lightly on the top from where meat has been carved on it. However, aside from this, it is in very good condition. There is evidence of a repair to one of the feet on the platter but this is sturdy and doesn’t affect the way the platter sits or how it is used.
