Antique Early 20th Century Plain White Ironstone Compote Dish or Compotier by Boch Les Freres of Belgium
This is an excellent quality shallow antique Belgian white ironstone compote dish, dating from the early 20th Century.
It is hard to source these beautifully shaped bowls in plain white ironstone. This one, sourced from Belgium and with a mark dating it to the 1910s/1920s, is in lovely antique condition. Made by Boch Les Freres, this company was renowned for quality ironstone pieces.
This compote has a simple, classic shape and has a good height to it. They are great for use as a kitchen centrepiece, for fruit like lemons and limes, or as a large dessert bowl.
It is in lovely condition, with no cracks. There is surface crazing all over, reflecting its age, part of which has slightly stained on the base section and underneath. There are also two firing faults on the top rim. Both these are reasonably close together and therefore aren’t overly notable if this piece is on display.
