Antique Early 20th Century White Ironstone Pie Vents or Funnels – The Patented Gourmet Pie Cup
This is a listing for ONE antique white ironstone Gourmet Pie Cup funnel, dating from the early 1900s. A total of two are available to choose from, with the right hand funnel a little bit more chippy.
Both these Edwardian pie vents are classic examples of white ironstone kitchenalia featuring black transfer print advertising. The design beautifully bell shaped ironstone pie funnels were subject to patents, and were called the Gourmet Pie Cup.
Still practical enough for use today to allow steam to escape from the middle of homemade pies, they are lovely pieces of kitchenalia for display in the kitchen too.
Both these pie funnels have seen varying degrees of wear over the years.
LEFT FUNNEL: This funnel has lightly tea stained crazing. There are also nibbles to its base rim but the transfer is still nice and clear and there are no chips or cracks.
RIGHT FUNNEL: This is the more chippy example, with a chip to the base rim, as well as nibbles to the base from use and a small chip to the inside of the funnel at the top. This example also has more notable crazing focused towards the top of the funnel.
