Victorian Ceramic Broody Hen Laying Eggs

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

These wonderful Victorian ironstone eggs are a perfect display piece. They were used in chicken coops to encourage hens to lay more eggs.

They are all in a putty grey colour, although they have varying degrees of discoloration and some odd knocks and cracks. However, there is no crazing to the glaze and these imperfections really do help to make them a special and collectable display piece.

The underside of each egg has a flat side, which allowed it to sit in the nest without rolling away. These parts of the eggs are unglazed. This feature is very useful when displaying these.

Dimensions of each egg: Length, 6cm; Width, 4cm

UK delivery £3.00 via Royal Mail for each egg (they can all be sent for £5.00), please ask for an international quote.
