Antique Victorian Medium Sized Salt Glazed Syrup Pitcher with Pewter Lid

antique victorian large salt glazed white ironstone syrup pitcher water jug pewter lid

A stunning example of a salt glazed plain white pitcher with a pewter lid, dating from 1856.

This white pitcher has a pewter lid, helping to ensure milk, cream or syrup stays fresh. Featuring simple, yet beautiful detailing of an ivy vine and berries winding its way around the jug and its handle, it’s a very striking pitcher.

On the base is a date mark for the mid 1800s. Considering this item is approximately 165 years old, it is in excellent condition. The original pewter lid still operates well and there are no cracks or chips. The only, very minor, signs of age is some mild discolouration and age spots. On the whole, though, this pitcher is in nice clean condition.

A great medium sized pitcher, this jug oozes quality and would make a lovely addition to a kitchenalia collection.
