Rare Extra Large Antique Victorian Stoneware Eggs Preserving Jar by Price Bristol

rare extra large anique victorian stoneware eggs preserving jar price bristol

A rarely seen example of an extra large stoneware egg preserving jar, made by Price Bristol in the 19th Century.

This ‘Eggs’ jar is an excellent display piece to have, and it could still be used of course to preserve or store eggs. The underglazed ‘Eggs’ label is still very clear and is also typically Victorian in slightly gothic style. The imprinted maker’s mark and a size indicator (this was the number ‘2’ version of the jar which was available) can also be seen on the side of the jar.

The jar is in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips. There is some residue where sodium silicate deposits (used to preserve the eggs) have built up but otherwise it’s very good.

For those wanting to add a genuine rustic or quirky feel to their interior decor, this is a perfect display item.
