Antique Victorian Danish Dairy Scottish Stoneware 2lb Butter Crock
A stunning example of a late 19th Century/early 20th Century stoneware butter crock, advertising the Danish Dairy based in Scotland.
This two tone butter crock features black transfer print advertising the Danish Dairy Co, with a superbly detailed picture of a milkmaid walking through the fields. The transfer is still in excellent condition.
The maker’s mark, Port Dundas Pottery Company, Glasgow, is imprinted on the side of the crock, together with the 2lb marker.
Although the crock has no lid, it’s an excellent decorative piece and would also be ideal for use as a herb pot or planter.
This butter crock is in excellent condition, the only faults being some drips in the glaze in places which would have occurred at the time it was made.
