Early 20th Century Large Six Pint White Banded Sadler Dairy Jug

antique edwardian 1920s smiths crisps shop display glass jar counter

A fabulous large white ironstone six pint dairy jug, by Sadler, dating from the early 20th Century.

These large six pint white banded ironstone pitchers are quite sought after and therefore difficult to source. This is understandable, given their simple & elegant appearance, and the versatility of their use around the home. Originally designed as large dairy jugs, capable of holding up to six pints, they also double up as wonderful flower vases, or rustic kitchen utensil storage. They also look stunning sitting on display.

Made by Sadler (featuring the Sadler Made in England mark on its base) in the early part of the 20th Century, this jug is in very good condition. There are no cracks, chips or crazing. There are some odd age spots, including on the back of the jug, plus a small glazing fault measuring 1cm squared which is indented slightly and has also discolored yellow slightly. There is also a slight blue mark on the base of the jug, most likely some of the print used when adding the maker’s mark.

Height, 21.5cm; Width, 23cm.
