Antique Early 20th Century Plain White Ironstone Lidded Bucket By Grimwades – Ideal Ice bucket or Planter
A lovely condition large white ironstone slop bucket, with its original lid in tact, dating from the early 20th Century, which could serve a multitude of uses in today’s modern home.
These wonderful ceramic buckets or pails were originally used for disposing of waste water around the home. This example was made by Grimwades around 1930.
It is a rarer smaller shaped bucket; they were often twice the height. However, it’s nonetheless still a substantial piece which is great for use as a planter or as an ice bucket for wine.
This lovely white ironstone version is very solid and heavy. There are some age spots all over the piece from use, most notably on the lid and inside the bucket itself. There is also some light crazing on the top of the lid too, as well as a tiny knock to the glaze. However, overall, this bucket is in remarkable clean condition and there are no cracks. It’s also great to see it complete with its original lid.
