Antique 1900s French Carved Wooden Butter Brick Mould
This is an outstanding antique French butter brick mould, dating from the early part of the twentieth Century.
This wooden butter mould features nice carved detail of a floral display. Often, the carvings in these moulds helped to identify where butter was produced, so this may have represented local fauna distinct to a region in France.
This mould has all its original cast iron fittings. Joined with a hinge at one end, the other end has a hook and latch allowing easy access once the butter has set.
With its rustic patina, this would look beautiful simply sat proudly on display to give a rustic touch to your interior kitchen styling. But as it’s in perfect working order, it’s also ideal for more adventurous cooks who might want to try making their own butter.
Apart from general age and wear to the fittings, the mould is in excellent overall condition. There are a couple of white marks which can’t be removed and it is possible the hook holding the latch together has been replaced at some point.
