Antique 1920s English Carved Wooden Butter Dish With Willow Liner

antique edwardian 1920s smiths crisps shop display glass jar counter

A superb example of a wonderful carved English wooden butter dish, featuring a willow patterned butter pat liner, in excellent barely used condition.

This original carved wooden butter dish, with its matching butter pat, probably dates from the 1920s. It is in excellent condition, with the carved wooden detail still very crisp and sharp. The butter pat liner features a blue and white willow pattern with a maker’s mark on its base.

Like all antique and vintage items, there are some signs of age. There is some minor discoloration to the wooden base in places and also a very small dent on its side. There is also crazing to the butter pat and a small firing fault, but there are no chips or cracks.

Width, 15cm; Height, 1.75cm (butter pat measures 10cm wide by 1.5 cm tall)
