Antique Early 20th Century Carved English Breadboard with Rarely Seen Scalloped Border

antique rare shaped scalloped border early 20th century carved english breadboard

A wonderful example of an English carved breadboard, featuring a nice and rarely seen scalloped edged.

These English carved treen breadboards are becoming rarer and rarer to source, especially in good usable condition. This is a lovely example.

Although a fairly basic design, with a simple chip carved pattern around its border, the pretty scalloped edged border isn’t often seen and makes this board stand out.

Dating from the early to mid 20th Century, this bread board is in excellent condition and sits flat. It has been used, as evidenced by the knife marks and odd chips and knocks to the border. However, these are fairly light. There is a patch of staining to the board on one side, most likely a result with some grease residue over the years. It’s possible this will scrub out or the colour of the board in its entirety could be enhanced by regular waxing.

Overall, this carved antique bread board is perfect for day to day use but it would also look great on display as part of a breadboard or kitchenalia collection.
