Antique Edwardian Lithographed Grocers Advertising Price Sign

rare early 20th century antique edwardian grocers price spike yellow red tin

This is a listing for ONE antique Edwardian grocers price sign. A total of two are available to purchase, and they are wonderful pieces of antique shop advertising ephemera.

Made of tin, with a lithographed face, the use of bold font and vibrant colours really stand out on these antique pieces. I can just imagine how colourful the food displays would have looked with an array of signs like this on display in the shops.

Dating from around 1919, these grocers spikes are in fair condition for their age. There are some scratches to the surface on both the signs, as well as patches of oxidisation on their backs.

However, the colouring and typography is still very clear. The yellow and red colour combination, combined with the use of borders, makes a bold impression and these signs really stand out.

There is a small amount of damage to the spike on the 1d sign, which has come loose from its frame and has been subsequently bent again to make it stable. This doesn’t detract from the overall appearance though.

Both signs would make a wonderful display item as part of a kitchenalia collection or hung on a kitchen wall.

They are available to purchase individually, although savings on combined shipping are available, so please get in touch if you’re interested in purchasing them together.
