Extra Large Antique Edwardian Plain White Ironstone Kitchen Storage Jar
An excellent and rare example of an antique Edwardian plain white banded Edwardian ironstone storage jar which is in mint condition.
Dating from the early 20th, white ironstone storage jars like this were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when foodstuffs were often sold in loose measures in local grocers shops. These types of pots are becoming harder and harder to source, especially in such nice condition as this.
In an extra large size, there’s plenty of space to store food of any type in this jar. Although the jar isn’t marked, it is in the style made by Grimwades and has an embossed size marker on its base (7 1/2 inches) which also appears on its other pots.
In clean condition, it has just some very minor age marks to the outer rim of the lid and some minor age spots on the main body of the pot. There is no crazing, cracks of chips to the pot. There is a minor firing fault on the top rim of the pot which is about 0.5cm in length, however this doesn’t detract.
