Antique Carved Wooden Bread Fork

Antique Victorian treen wooden handled carved bread fork

This is an exceptional and rare early to mid twentieth Century carved treen bread fork.

A lovely example of a carved wooden bread fork. While it’s common to see bread forks in silver, this EPNS fork has a wonderful carved treen handle.

On the front of the wooden handle the work “Bread” has been carefully carved into it. The quality of this carving really stands out. On the back of the wooden handle are carved slashes to represent an ear of wheat. The carved handle is complemented by lovey detail in the EPNS both on the front and back of the fork. The EPNS is marked and bears the maker’s name A & S.

It’s in lovely condition. The EPNS has tarnished yellow slightly around the edges of the fork and there is some fading to the wood where it meets the EPNS and at the end. However, the carving is still in excellent condition and it’s a very good piece.

Length, 23cm; Width (of fork), 3.25cm, (of handle), 2cm.
