Antique Early 20th Century Carved English Treen Bread Knife with Stainless Steel Blade
A lovely English carved wooden bread knife, dating from the early 1900s.
This treen bread knife, with its carved “BREAD” handle is in nice condition for its age. With a finial end, the quality hardwood handle is still nice and clear. The colouring of the wood has faded and worn in places but this does not detract from the carving and timeworn charm of the piece.
The stainless steel blade is in excellent condition. It is etched with “Bread Knife” in stylised writing. And it’s very usable being in stainless steel.
There are some minor marks are wear to the handle. Unfortunately, the metal collar which normally covers up the joint between the handle and blade is missing on this knife. However, this is purely a decorative feature and so the knife is still perfectly usable without the this.
