Antique Early 20th Century Carved English Treen Wooden Butter Knife with EPNS Blade

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

A wonderful example of a carved treen handled EPNS butter knife, dating from the early part of the twentieth Century.

The hardwood handle features the word “BUTTER” carved along its length. The carving is nice and deep, and also looks like it has had minimal use so is still nice and clear. The hardwood handle is finished off perfectly with a turned finial end.

The EPNS blade is lined with a simple engraved pattern. The EPNS has tarnished yellow in some places due to its age. This is perfectly usable, although it is also possible for this to be re-plated very cheaply if desired by the new owner.

This would be a great addition to a kitchenalia collection, especially for those who collect treen or wooden carved objects.

Length, 18.5cm; Width, 2.3cm (at widest point of blade)
