Antique Early 20th Century Carved English “Bread” Board by Bramhall
A wonderful carved English breadboard, made by Bramhall in the early 20th Century, with the word “Bread” clearly carved into its border.
This is a great example of a beechwood early 20th Century carved bread board, dating from the 1920s or 1930s. Carved breadboards were extremely popular household items at the time. This breadboard were made by one of the most famous manufacturers of breadboards at the time, Bramhall, notable for the use of a teardrop in the top of the carved letter ‘B’ of their boards.
Despite its age, the carving on this “Bread” board is still very nicely defined and clear, flanked by simple carvings of leaves on each side of the board.
This antique beech breadboard has a great colour and is in very good condition. There are normal knife marks from use, more notably on the middle section. The board sits flat, but can be pressed down slightly at the front when pressure is applied.
