Antique Early 20th Century Carved English Bread Knife with Oak Handle and Stainless Steel Blade
A wonderful English nicely carved wooden bread knife, dating from the early part of the 20th Century.
This treen bread knife, with its carved “BREAD” handle is in wonderful condition for its age, dating from around the 1920s or 1930s. Rarely seen with oak handles like this, and featuring a prominent finial end, the quality hardwood handle is still clearly carved. It is attached to the blade with a quality joint, highlighting the handmade nature of the knife. The handle has a lovely rich colour to it still.
The stainless steel blade is in excellent clean condition and so is very good to use still. It is etched, ‘Bread Knife’ and has the Firth Brearley maker’s name.
In summary, this is an excellent piece of antique treen kitchenalia which will look lovely on display but is also good for ongoing day to day use.
