Antique Edwardian Carved English Treen Butter Board or Dish with Leaf Patterned Border
An excellent example of a carved English wooden butter dish or board, dating from the very start of the 20th Century.
Although this Edwardian carved wooden butter dish is, on the face of it, quite simple in design, the detail and depth of carving really stands out, as does the excellent condition it is still in.
The border, of joined leaves, is deeply carved, with the detail still very crisp and sharp. The background between each leaf also has wonderful carved starred detailing. Complete with its original glass liner, these butter boards make excellent display items as part of a kitchenalia or treen collection, yet are also still immensely useful. The glass butter dish is removable, for those who would prefer to display this dish on its own.
In overall excellent condition, there is a small chip to the outside of the glass liner.
