Antique Early 20th Century Large Barrel Shaped Banded White Ironstone Dairy Jug
A fabulous large white ironstone five pint dairy jug, made by Societé Céramique, of the Netherlands, dating from the early 20th Century.
These large rounded barrel shaped white banded ironstone pitchers are quite sought after and therefore difficult to source. This is understandable, given their simple & elegant appearance, and the versatility of their use around the home. Originally designed as large dairy jugs, capable of holding up to five pints (full to the rim), they also double up as wonderful flower vases, or rustic kitchen utensil storage. They also look stunning sitting on display.
Made in the early part of the 20th Century, this jug is in excellent condition. There are no cracks or chips and just some very mild patches of crazing, mainly close to the top rim. The inside does have more crazing, which has lightly stained the base, as a result of use over the years. There are also some odd age spots, but overall this is a rare example to find and is a beautiful shape.
