Antique Early 20th Century Banded White Ironstone ‘Lentils’ Jar By Grimwades
A clean example of a large antique Edwardian plain white banded Edwardian ironstone storage jar for ‘Lentils’ made by Grimwades.
Dating from the early 20th, white ironstone storage jars like this were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when foodstuffs were often sold in loose measures in local grocers shops. These types of pots are becoming harder and harder to source.
In the 6 1/2 inch size pot, this is a good large size. Unfortunately, it has suffered some damage and has a hairline crack running down the side of the pot. This crack is not stable and therefore I wouldn’t recommend this be used regularly. However, as a decorative item this is great.
In clean condition, it has some patches of crazing and there is also some fading to the ‘Lentils’ label. However, it is still legible and clear would make a lovely display piece.
