Antique 1930s Sparklets Glass & Pewter Mesh Covered Soda Syphon

antique edwardian 1920s smiths crisps shop display glass jar counter

A nice example of an art deco 1930s Sparklets Soda Syphon.

Produced for Sparklets, this would have been used in bars or clubs to pour soda, using gas bulbs to carbonate water for drinks. As with most quality soda syphons produced for use in Europe at that time, this was made in Czechoslovakia, with the origin mark on the base.

With pewter mesh detailing encasing a thick and heavy glass bottle, these soda syphons are still extremely attractive today. They look great in any home bar or trolley.

This soda syphon is no longer in working order and is missing its original straw. However, they make fantastic display and decorative pieces.

As with all vintage and antique pieces, this soda syphon does show signs of its age. The external wire mesh cover has oxidised and consequently discolored in a number of places. The metal top has bent a little and is also oxidised, with some of the chrome veneer peeling away in places too. The glass has also been chipped around the top rim of the bottle, as well as internally in the base rim. The red line has also faded a little.

Nonetheless, it is still a very striking vintage piece which can sit proudly on display in the home.

Height, 34.5cm; Width, 11cm.
